But the injection of air burnt that fuel to ensure they are not ejected to the environment. Secondary air injection systems come in two types that is the umped air injection system and the aspirated air injection systems. First, let us look at pumped air injection systems. This is a system that uses an air pump to inject air into the exhaust systems. The air pump is turned by the engine through the motor. So as to filter the large dirt that is capable of damaging the system, the screen is rotated. Then under small pressure, air gets into the injection point. There is a type of valve that is called the check valve. Its work is to prevent exhaust going back to the air injection system. If it happens that the exhaust gets into the air injecting system, a serious damage could result.

Aspirated air injection systems uses negative pressure in the exhaust when the engine is at idle state. The valve known as aspirator valve is put on the injection point so as air can be drawn into the exhaust. This valve is normally very sensitive. When the engine is idle, short negative forces gets in the exhaust system. This forces draws air into the exhaust system through the aspirator valve. Most of the modern vehicles such as Toyota use this kind of systems.
