Learn More About Secondary Air Injection Systems

Have you ever heard about secondary air injection system? But it is a few people who understand more about vehicles who do not know what this means. this doesn’t mean everyone knows this more. By reading this article, you are going to learn more about the secondary air injection systems.

The exhaust gases are burnt by the air injected into the exhaust by a system that we call Secondary air injection system. This controls the emulsion for the vehicles. The way of controlling of exhaust gasses and other emissions depends on the way of injection. Also this strategy working method depends on where the air enters from to the exhaust stream. This has been varying over the cause of revolution.

The systems that were developed first used to inject air at a point too close to the engine. This kind of systems could produce oxygen that burnt all unburnt fuel inside the exhaust before it was ejected. In those earlier times of invention of these systems, there used to be more unburnt fuel in the exhaust stream. But the injection of air burnt that fuel to ensure they are not ejected to the environment. Due to this, the system worked well and there was reduction of the amount of unburnt of unburnt fuel in the exhaust stream.

Secondary air injection systems come in two types that is the umped air injection system and the aspirated air injection systems. First, let us look at pumped air injection systems. This is a system that uses an air pump to inject air into the exhaust systems. The air pump is turned by the engine through the motor. So as to filter the large dirt that is capable of damaging the system, the screen is rotated. Then under small pressure, air gets into the injection point. There is a type of valve that is called the check valve. Its work is to prevent exhaust going back to the air injection system. If it happens that the exhaust gets into the air injecting system, a serious damage could result.

Aspirated air injection systems uses negative pressure in the exhaust when the engine is at idle state. The valve known as aspirator valve is put on the injection point so as air can be drawn into the exhaust. This valve is normally very sensitive. When the engine is idle, short negative forces gets in the exhaust system. This forces draws air into the exhaust system through the aspirator valve. Most of the modern vehicles such as Toyota use this kind of systems.
I hope you have learnt a lot on the secondary air injection systems. You can read more on the systems in the net.
